A remote controller is disclosed. The remote controller includes a communicator configured to perform communication with a display apparatus which provides a user interface screen, a sensor configured to sense a movement of the remote controller, and a controller configured to perform control so that, when a preset event occurs, motion information of the remote controller sensed by the sensor is mapped with a reference point of a pointer provided on the user interface screen.
