[Also in Group XVI] A winding-machine to wind continuous fabric webs into rolls comprises two drive rollers 2 and 2a arranged on either side of a frame 1 and against either of which can be applied in turn a mandrel 5 or 5a adapted to receive a roll R and to move progressively away from the roll as winding proceeds, guide means 23 and 24 for the web T, alternately movable in a transverse direction between two limit positions which correspond to the fabric winding on one or other side of the frame, cutting means 25 movable between an inoperative position and an operative position and a locking means 32 combined with the guide means to lock the cutting means in its inoperative position when the guide means is effecting its oscillating motion, but to release it a short time before the end of the oscillation to enable the fabric to be severed between the completed roll R and the new mandrel 5a on which the winding is to be continued. The cutting means preferably consists of a roller 25 having blades 28, 28a having saw edges. In operation movement of the guide means 23, 24 from one side or the other drags the cloth over the covered table 16 and into contact with the roller 25. As the arm 19 carrying the guide means 23, 24 nears the end of the movement it withdraws locking pin 32 by means of chain 44, sprocket 43 and crank 40 from a detent in roller 25 thus permitting the web to rotate roller 25 so that blade 28 (or 28a) severs the web held across the table 16. Pressure devices 45, 45a are provided for ensuring correct winding of a roll and are pivotal about pin 47 from a lower inoperative position to an upper operative position.</p> |
