<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can have a low-cost and simple configuration, prevent erroneous attachment of a toner supply container to an apparatus body, and surely open/close a toner supply port by use of a shutter member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes a toner cartridge 70 having: a container body 71 for storing toner; the shutter member 76 for opening/closing a toner supply port 71a; and a supply-side incompatible key 72 that selects a developing unit 34 and can be attached to the inserting portion 91 of the apparatus body 90. Further, the image forming apparatus 1 includes a container incompatible member 80 integrally formed from: a first contact portion 81 that contacts the shutter member 76 in conjunction with the operation of attaching the toner cartridge 70 and thereby moves the shutter member 76 from a closed position to an opened position; a second contact portion 82 that moves the shutter member from the opened position to the closed position in conjunction with the operation of detaching the toner cartridge 70; and a body-side incompatible key 84 which can engage with the supply-side incompatible key 72.
