Carboxylic acid recovery and methods related thereto

A method of producing an alkyl ester of a carboxylic acid is provided, the method comprising: providing an aqueous solution of a carboxylic acid salt comprising less than 15 weight-% water; adding an alkanol and a mineral acid to said carboxylic acid salt to provide a carboxylic acid/alkanol solution and a precipitated mineral acid salt; esterifying the carboxylic acid without separating the mineral acid salt from the carboxylic acid/alkanol solution; and isolating an alkyl ester of the carboxylic acid.
