<p>A wingsail unit for a vessel 20 is disclosed comprising a rotatable support for mounting to a vessel and at least four elongate aerofoil sails (1, 2, 3, 5, Fig 1) each formed from at least one aerofoil section for providing the vessel with thrust. Each of the aerofoil sails is mounted to the rotatable support such that the leading edges of the aerofoil sections are all substantially vertical and rotation of the rotatable support changes the angle of attack of the aerofoil sails. A vessel comprising a plurality of the wingsail units mounted to the vessel is also disclosed in which the configuration of the wingsail units on the vessel differ. A method of designing a plurality of wingsail units for a vessel is also disclosed.</p> |
