<p>The present invention relates to an infant bed base and a means for elevating at least part of a mattress. The bed comprises at least one extending member 12, 13, 18, in one embodiment taking the form of scissor-pivoted members. The extending members are actuated by a lifting mechanism 4, 24 that may comprise one or more hydraulic members. The extending members may also be actuated by an electric or pneumatic controller 16, 17. A return locking means may be provided to prevent retraction of the extending members once the mattress is in an elevated position. The infant bed base may also comprise telescopic sections 20, 26 providing adjustment of the width or length of the bed base. A further adjustment mechanism may be provided allowing tilting of the mattress.</p> |
