A worktop 10 comprising a work-surface 12, to be arranged substantially horizontally in use and having a top surface 12a, front longitudinal edge 12b and an underside 12c; a worktop item 14, located below the work-surface; and a separate elongate liquid director 22 having an upper mounting surface 22a with at least one projection, but preferably two, downwardly tapering projections 24a, 24b extending therefrom. The liquid director is preferably adhered along the front edge of the underside of the worktop. In a preferred embodiment, the liquid director is made from a flexible and resilient material and at least partially formed from silicone rubber or PVC. The worktop comprises a non-water resistant core covered by a water resistant outer layer. There may be a join longitudinal in the water-resistant layer on the underside of the worktop, and in such circumstances, the liquid director is arranged to either cover the join or be attached forward of the join. |
