Disclosed are a display apparatus and a method for outputting an image. A method for outputting an image according to the present invention includes a step of dividing a received image into sub images; a step of correcting the image quality of each sub images based on the contrast ratio to the receive image; and a step of outputting an image by combining the corrected sub images. Therefore, the display apparatus can improve brightness and chrominance which are changed according to the sub images divided from the receive image.
