<p>A mitre saw comprises a saw assembly slidably and pivotally mounted to a rotatable circular table by means of a bevel mount, the saw assembly pivotable towards or away from the table and slidable towards or away from the bevel mount, the saw assembly comprising a cutting blade mounted on a drive spindle driven by a motor mounted within the saw assembly, a fixed guard 52 surrounding at least the top half of the periphery of the blade and having a dust tube 182 mounted thereon, the dust tube providing a passageway for dust and debris to exit the fixed guard, a dust chute (202, Figure 7) being mounted on the bevel mount to direct the flow of dust and debris into the fixed guard when the saw assembly is at its closest position to the bevel mount. The dust chute may be behind a fixed fence attached to the base. A movable fence may be mounted to the fixed fence. A flexible, rubber guard chute (188, Figure 7) may be added to the fixed guard to align with the dust chute when the saw assembly is in its lowest position to act as a single, combined chute. Also disclosed, a compact motor and fan arrangement, a cutting guide, drive belt cooling and a support preventing tipping of the saw.</p> |
