Disclosed are an electronic control unit for a vehicle based on the automotive open system architecture (AUTOSAR) and an update method thereof. The electronic control unit for a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a communication hardware abstraction unit which receives data for an update from a communication driver and an electronic device updating unit which updates the electronic device using the data received from the communication hardware abstraction unit.
