A fluid flow control valve member 12 for use with a valve body 14 for installation in a valve port of a tap having a tap spindle includes a piston 16 having a first side 18 and an opposite second sealing side 20. A stem 22 extends outwardly from the first side of the piston for operative engagement with the tap spindle. The piston includes a lip 96 extending transversely outwardly from the piston, the lip abutting a stop surface 94 of the valve body during movement of the piston 16 towards the valve body 14 to limit movement of the piston.
