950,792. Regulating fluid flow. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Feb. 13, 1962 [Feb.16, 1961], No. 5547/62. Heading G3H. A bi-stable fluid amplifier 2, Fig. 1, comprises a power stream inlet passage 4, 6 and two receiving passages 10, 12 extending from a chamber 8. Control jet orifices 26, 31 extend respectively from control signal chambers 20, 22 which are defined by diaphragms 24, 28. The diaphragms 24, 28 are selectively vibrated by energization of associated electromagnets 30, 32 from signal sources 34, 36 to direct the output to one or other receiving passage. The chambers 20, 22 are each preferably shaped similarly to a horn type loudspeaker and each diaphragm is spherically shaped. In another example a fluid amplifier having four stable states is described. In an example comprising a fluid amplifier with three stable states the direction of the power stream is determined by which two of the three control jet orifices receive control signals.
|
