The present invention relates to an in vitro method of diagnosis of a Plasmodium infection in a subject, by measuring the serum concentration of at least one secreted phospholipase A2 selected from the group consisting of GIIF, GV and GX sPLA2S, in said subject, from a blood sample. It also relates to a kit for carrying out said method and pharmaceutical compositions comprising a recombinant mammal GIIF, GV or GX sPLA2.
