Classes 20(3) and 20(4) [Also in Groups VIII, XXV and XXXVI] A channel-shaped clip for trimming, sealing &c. strips comprises a plurality of elements 11, 12, Fig. 4, arranged in zig-zag formation with the end portions of adjacent elements in overlapping relation, a projection 16 being carried by one of the end portions of each pair of overlapping end portions. Each pair of overlapping end portions may be interlocked by causing the projection of the one end portion to enter a passageway or aperture in the other end portion and in a preferred arrangement, Fig. 3, a projection 16 formed on the one end portion enters an aperture created by the formation on the other end portion of a second projection 18 which in use reinforces the projection 16. The projection may be made harder than the remainder of the strip, for example by chromium plating the projection. The projections may face inwardly or outwardly of the channel, or some may face inwardly whilst others face outwardly. The projections may face towards or away from the base of the channel or in the longitudinal direction of the channel. The projections may be of frusto-conical form, Fig. 21, or may comprise bent over portions 64, Fig. 24, of the outer parts of the overlapping portions. The elements may be spaced from each other between the overlapping end portions as in Fig. 28 or may be extended on one side as at 72, Fig. 26, to receive a sealing or bumper member 73. The elements may be formed from a single strip as in Figs. 3 and 4, or may comprise separate elements as in Fig. 30, maintained in position by the interlocking effect of the projections 90.</p> |
