FIELD: transport.SUBSTANCE: set of inventions relates to a control method and a system for a vehicle gearbox, as well as to the vehicle. The method provides the gearbox shifting to the lower gear from the first gear to the second gear. For the first gear, the vehicle acceleration is negative. For the second gear the vehicle acceleration is positive or zero. Downshifting switches on an intermediate gear stage between the first and second gear while using the engine speed in the first gear as an input parameter when downshifting. The engine speed in the first gear represents the engine speed which vehicle obtains when acceleration becomes negative in the first gear. The proposed system comprises a control unit to exercise control over the vehicle gearbox.
