Class 112 In making a sliding clasp fastener comprising a pair of enmeshed helical coils each of which is sewn to a stringer tape having a longitudinal edge formed with, or having attached thereto, a U-shaped portion partially enclosing the helical coil, the two enmeshed coils are first separated by means of a separating device, and are then fed to the needles of a twin-needle sewing machine by means of a right-hand and a left-hand worm which engage the respective coils and move them a distance equal to the pitch of the coils for one revolution of the worms, one stitch being made between each turn of each coil. |
