FIELD: physics.SUBSTANCE: image forming apparatus is configured to switch target temperature of an image heating means from waiting mode target temperature in a waiting mode, where a clamping means and the image heating means are separated, to a first target temperature or second target temperature which is lower than the waiting mode temperature and the first target temperature.
