Neutrophil attracting and activating factors that may already exist in normal cells are located. The invention provides (a) a polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:4 or 5; (b) a polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence which shares at least 90% identity with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4 or 5 and having neutrophil stimulating activity; or (c) a polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence derived from the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4 or 5 by deletion, substitution, insertion or addition of one or more amino acids and having neutrophil stimulating activity, wherein an N-terminus of said polypeptide is modified by formylation, acetylation or methylation. The invention also provides an antibody specific to said polypeptide, a method utilizing said polypeptide, and a kit comprising said polypeptide. |
