DEVICE AND METHOD OF SEPARATING MATERIAL RELATED TO ABSORBENT ARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance opening performance of a separation device to improve separation performance thereof.SOLUTION: There is provided a separation device which separates liquid absorbent fibers related to an absorbent article from a material having the liquid absorbent fibers and impurities. The separation device includes: a case; an input port for inputting the material into the case on a current of air; a rotary member housed in the case and configured to agitate the material to open; and a discharge port for discharging the liquid absorbent fibers in the material opened by the rotary member from the inside of the case on a current of air. The rotary member has: a revolution axis provided in such a manner that the axial direction is along a prescribed direction toward the discharge port from the input port; a shaft member rotating around a rotation axis provided in such a manner that the axial direction is along the prescribed direction. The shaft member has a projection part which is projected outward in a direction crossing the axial direction of the shaft member.
