The present invention relates to an auxiliary monitoring system for a spent fuel pool at a nuclear power plant and the monitoring method using the same. More particularly, the auxiliary monitoring system for a spent fuel pool at a nuclear power plant include a water level sensor; a temperature sensor for sensing surface temperature; an optical fiber which is connected to each sensor and transfers a light signal sensed from the each sensor; a signal conversion/collection device which collects and converts the light signal received from the optical fiber into an electrical signal; a signal analysis device a DC power part which supplies DC power to the signal conversion/collection device and the signal analysis device.
