A digital image processing device and a control method thereof are provided to improve speed for recognizing a face from an input image by reducing a search region in entire image. An image input unit(310) moves a focus lens in a step unit and receives each frame at a position of the focus lens moved to each step. A first storage unit(330) stores image data of each frame image. A controller(320) divides each frame image into a plurality of blocks, and finds a focus value of each block unit. The controller extracts distance information of a subject, which is included in each block, based on the focus value. |
