PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element restrained in the deterioration of display quality.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display element 101 includes oblong stripe-like common electrodes 106, oblong stripe-like segment electrodes 107 orthogonally crossing to the common electrodes 106, and a liquid crystal layer held between these electrodes and forming a pre-tilt angle in the extending direction of the segment electrode 107 to cause liquid crystals to be oriented substantially perpendicularly. An overlapping part of the common electrodes 106 and the segment electrodes 107 constitutes a pixel 114, and a row of openings arrayed linearly to cross the formation direction of the pre-tilt angle of the liquid crystal is disposed on the segment electrodes 107 in the vicinity of an edge perpendicular to the formation direction of the pre-tilt angle of the pixel 114. |
