PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for urging, when a failure in an alignment unit is detected, an operator to move the alignment unit so that a sheet can be discharged, to avoid the sheet being damaged and jammed.SOLUTION: A sheet processing apparatus comprises: sheet stacking means for stacking a discharged sheet; and alignment means including two alignment members that align the sheet stacked on the sheet stacking means while respectively abutting on two side surfaces parallel to a sheet conveyance direction of the stacked sheet, and performs control to perform alignment processing to discharge the sheet if the alignment means can operate and control to interrupt the discharge of the sheet and urge the operator to move the alignment members so that the width of the sheet to be discharged becomes not more than a spacing between the two alignment members and resume the discharge of the sheet without performing the alignment processing by the alignment means when the width of the sheet becomes not more than the spacing between the two alignment members if the alignment means cannot operate. |
