PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for enabling sheet alignment without interrupting print processing and while preventing, even when a sheet having a width different from the width of a stacked sheet is to be stacked on the stacked sheet, the stacked sheet from being contaminated.SOLUTION: In a sheet processing apparatus and a control method therefor, a first alignment member and a second alignment member respectively abut on edges in a width direction of a sheet to be stacked on a stacking tray on which discharged sheets are stacked to align the sheet stacked on the stacking tray, and control is performed, if a second sheet different from a first sheet already stacked on the stacking tray is stacked on the first sheet and if the first alignment member and the second alignment member contact the first sheet already stacked on the stacking tray when aligning the second sheet, to discharge a partitioning sheet on the first sheet. |
