PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multistage automatic transmission which is excellent in power performance and fuel consumption.SOLUTION: A multistage automatic transmission includes: an input shaft and an output shaft arranged in parallel with each other; a first planetary gear device which is installed concentrically with the input shaft and connects two rotating elements respectively with the input shaft such that the rotating elements can be disconnected intermittently; a second planetary gear device which is connected with the first planetary gear device by means of a circumscribed gear pair and is connected with the output shaft; a plurality of circumscribed gear pairs disposed so as to transmit power between remaining one rotation element which is not connected with the first planetary gear device and the output shaft among the rotation elements of the second planetary gear device and the input shaft; a plurality of power intermittent members disposed so as to intermit power transmission via the circumscribed gear pair between the rotation element of the second planetary gear device and the input shaft; and a restraining member disposed so as to restrain motion of remaining one rotation element which is not connected to the first planetary gear device and the output shaft among rotation elements of the second gear device.
