An EPS system for preventing the flow of an inrush electric current into a smoothing capacitor is composed of an MCU for outputting a PWM signal; a relay having voltage applied from a battery and being turned on and off according to the PWM signal output from the MCU; a motor being driven according to the operation of the relay; and a smoothing capacitor. The EPS system comprises a charging part for the smoothing capacitor that charges the smoothing capacitor prior to the relay according to the PWM signal output from the MCU.
