PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide aqueous ink for an ink jet printer capable of printing without deteriorating printing quality even at almost the same printing speed as a general-purpose printing method such as gravure printing regardless of the type of paper such as wood-free paper, medium quality paper and coated paper.SOLUTION: There is provided aqueous ink for an ink jet printer which comprises: a self-dispersible pigment; 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol; 1,6-hexanediol; stearyl methacrylate; methyl metacrylate; acrylic acid and a copolymer with α-methyl styrene.
