PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support understanding a chemical structure of a chemical compound.SOLUTION: An information provision device 101 obtains the chemical compound name of a target chemical compound. The information provision device 101 retrieves a candidate chemical formula corresponding to the obtained chemical compound name of the target chemical compound. The information provision device 101 extracts a character string indicating a substituent group of the target chemical compound out of the chemical compound name of the target chemical compound. The information provision device 101 calculates the number of variations of coupling positions of the substituent group by specifying a coupling position of a substituent group connected to a mother nucleus of a chemical compound which has a chemical compound name containing the character string indicating the extracted substituent group, out of a group of chemical compound names stored in a database 110 in association with the candidate chemical formula. The information provision device 101 outputs the calculated number of variations of the coupling position of the substituent group in association with the candidate chemical formula.
