PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering apparatus capable of suppressing a rapid change in assist torque when a discharge from an auxiliary power source to an electric motor is started.SOLUTION: An electric power steering apparatus (EPS1) includes an electric motor 21 for generating an assist torque on the basis of a steering torque, an auxiliary power source 40 that is connected in series to a main power source 4 for supplying power to the electric motor 21 and can be discharged to the electric motor 21, and a control device 30 for controlling a voltage to be applied to the electric power 21. The control apparatus 30 gradually increases a duty ratio of a switching element 44A serving as an instruction signal for issuing an instruction to discharge the auxiliary power source 40 when a discharge from the auxiliary power source 40 to the electric motor 21 is started.
