901,315. Flexible ball pumps. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Jan. 6, 1960 [Jan. 6, 1959], No. 469/59. Class 8(1). In a gas pump of the flexible chamber type suitable for administering inhalent gas, the chamber is collapsible for ease of storing and has one or more inflatable elements e.g., a rubber tube 13 with a valve connection 15 which when inflated serve to expand the chamber wall to its operative position in which it is collapsed by hand pressure to force air and oxygen previously admitted through inlets 11, 16 through an outlet 12 connected to a face mask (not shown). The latter is provided with a gas inlet duct 20, Fig. 8, having a flap valve 19 and with a continued inhaling and exhaling duct 17 having a flap valve 22 opening to a vent 24. In a modification the inflatable elements comprise a plurality of interconnected ducts. In a further modification the inflatable elements are formed by spaces between inner and outer walls of the chamber which are sealed together at spaced areas. |
