PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit capable of preventing deterioration in detection accuracy of a rotation detector.SOLUTION: A drive unit 12 comprises: a main housing 70 which surrounds the outside in the radial direction of a rotary electric machine 14 and to which a stator 32 of the rotary electric machine 14 is fixed; a resin side cover 72 which is coupled to the main housing 70 and covers a side surface of the rotary electric machine 14; and a rotation detector 20 for detecting the rotation angle or the rotational frequency of the rotary electric machine 14. A metal plate 18 is arranged between the rotary electric machine 14 and the side cover 72, and a stator 122 of the rotation detector 20 is held on the metal plate 18.
