PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable color filter coloring composition having superior fluidity and a color filter which is formed using a red-color composition having high brightness and a high contrast ratio and offers a good chromatic property and superior heat resistance.SOLUTION: A color filter coloring composition contains a colorant, resin, and a solvent, where the colorant contains a naphthol-azo pigment [A] represented by a general formula (1) below and the solvent contains a compound with a hydroxyl having a boiling point equal to or less than 250°C.
