<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound volume adjustment device for a proximity alarm apparatus for use in alarming an approaching electric automobile and the like, the device enabled to control the sound volume of an alarm sound on the basis of external noise in a surrounding area of a vehicle in the proximity alarm apparatus for alarming approaching electric automobile and the like traveling while issuing an alarm sound.SOLUTION: A sound volume of an alarm sound can be controlled on the basis of a sound condition of a surrounding area (such as nightly calm and bustle of city). For a pedestrian and the like, cases of mistaking the alarm sound for noise and being difficult to hear the alarm sound are prevented, resulting in improving safety for the pedestrian. Further, an adjustment value is calculated by multiplying a difference between the sound volume of the external noise and that of the alarm sound by a constant (>1). If the sound volume of the external noise is larger than the sound volume of the alarm sound, the calculated adjustment value is added to the sound volume of the alarm sound, while if the sound volume of the external noise is smaller than the sound volume of the alarm sound, the adjustment value is subtracted from the sound volume of the alarm sound, and thus the sound volume of the alarm sound is adjusted.</p> |
