PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem with conventional sleepers in that, because of the structure of connecting a pair of steel sleepers with a coupling rod, the size of the complete steel sleeper is reduced according to the size of the coupling rod with a lesser amount of ballast entering the inside of the steel sleeper, and eventually the movement of the steel sleeper along its longitudinal direction during the passage of trains is greater.SOLUTION: In a light-weight steel sleeper in this invention: a steel sleeper is composed of two parts split left and right; each of the half-split steel sleeper 1 and 2 has reinforcement member 1a and 1b respectively, each of which is formed integrally inside the sleeper body for prevention of the deformation of the sleeper; holes allowing ballast to pass through are formed on whole areas of the reinforcement members and on all faces of the aforesaid half-split steel sleepers except one side-end face of each half-split steel sleepers and the top faces where rails R are fixed; and opposite faces of the aforesaid half-split steel sleepers are joined face-to-face being electrically insulated with an insulation member 5 placed between them.
|
