PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize power saving of a power source output of a laser diode in a projector.SOLUTION: A power source control part 51 of a controller 21 preliminarily acquires a corresponding relation between a light emission amount of a laser diode LD of a projector and an output voltage Vo by calibration processing, and controls a power source 29 so as to supply power to the laser diode LD in a prescribed period at the output voltage Vo corresponding to a peak light emission amount of the laser diode LD in an image signal during the prescribed period. The present technique is applicable to a projector.
