PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device and a vehicle control method that can reduce a fuel consumption for a change route in the case of deviation from a route.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device includes: change route acquiring means of re-searing for a change route from a deviation point to a destination when it is determined that a vehicle position deviates from a route; coincident section acquiring means of acquiring a coincident section between the route and change route; and coincident section slope acquiring means of acquiring a coincident section average slope in the route in the coincident section and a vehicle position slope of the vehicle position; and travel control means of determining a driving state of a driving source upon the basis of the coincident section average slope and vehicle position slope so as to perform control. |
