PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device whose calculation accuracy is improved when calculating the distance to an object using single imaging means.SOLUTION: A vehicle periphery monitoring device 1 comprises: object image part extraction means 21 for extracting an image part 32 of the same object from each of time-sequence imaged images composed of n(≥3) images imaged by a single infrared camera 2 mounted on a vehicle 10; selection means 22 for acquiring similarity among each image part 32, and selecting image parts 32 whose imaging gap therebetween is the largest as a distance calculation pair from among image parts 32 whose acquired similarity is beyond a prescribed value; ratio calculation means 23 for calculating a ratio in size of the image parts 32 of the distance calculation pair; and distance calculation means 24 for calculating a distance from the vehicle 10 to the object on the basis of the ratio and a difference of imaging time of the image parts 32 of the distance calculation pair. |
