The method involves determining an internal temperature of an additive particle filter in which soot starts to burn, and a soot mass (Md) in the filter, by mapping a mass ratio (ADD/C) of a mass of additives to the soot mass estimated during a regeneration function. The estimated mass ratio is used during regeneration, where the ratio undergoes transformation or operation of a multiplicative or summative deviation (Em) according to the mass ratio for reconfiguring an operating parameter of an additive particle filter system.
