<p>The container has a hollow body (10) closed by a bottom end and a top end. The closed body includes wooden plates (11) with side surfaces. The plates are positioned side by side and connected together so that the side surfaces are joined to define a sidewall of the container. A retaining element (14) of the plates of the closed body is placed in a thickness of the plates placed side by side across the side surfaces opposite to each plate for forming a rim. Each plate includes openings transversely leading on both sides of the plates to the side surfaces. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a wooden container.</p>
