The method involves acquiring current pressure loss measurements (DPBAS A) at terminals of a heat exchanger of a bleed air system (1). Current measurements of temperature (T) and pressure (P) specific to the system are acquired. Variation between the current measurements of pressure loss is tested to detect a failure of variation. A consolidated current measurement of pressure loss is selected during the detection by using the current measurements of temperature and pressure and the current measurement of flow from an aircraft to arbitrate between the current measurements of pressure loss. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling an engine of an aircraft (2) a device for consolidating measurement of pressure loss in a bleed air system of an engine of an aircraft.
