902,826. Multitubular steam boilers. KOHLENSCHEIDUNGS-G.m.b.H. Feb. 13, 1959 [Feb. 17, 1958], No. 5157/59. Class 123 (2). [Also in Group XII] Ultrasonic waves are generated in a combustion chamber 4, Fig. 1, of a locomotive boiler above an inclined grate 2 to raise the velocity of the combustion air relatively to the fuel particles held in suspension in the combustion gases to improve the combustion of the particles before entering a flame tube 5 which is connected to the fire tube or smoke-free system 6. The ultrasonic generator 8 is mounted in the chamber wall 7 and comprises a nozzle 10, Fig. 2, supplied with air or gas under pressure through a pipe 11 and a resonator 12, the nozzle and resonator being mounted on an annular tube 17, Fig. 3, having tubular arms 11, 18, 19 constructed as supports by which they are secured to a spherical metal reflector 13. The arms 18, 19 serve as feed and discharge pipes for a coolant, e.g. water, which flows in parallel branches through an annular tube 17 to form a ring cooling the nozzle 10 and resonator 12. The reflector 13 is cooled by water which flows through a pipe 14 and built-in spiral coils 15 to be discharged through a pipe. |
