PURPOSE: A styrene-butadiene latex is provided to improve polymerization stability and to be used for paper coating with excellent mechanical stability and fluidity under a high shear. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing styrene butadiene latex for paper coating comprises: a step of adding 100 parts by weight of a polymerization monomer containing 10-60 wt% of 1,3-butadiene, 10-70 wt% of styrene, 1-10 wt% of a vinyl cyan-based monomer, 1-10 wt% of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer, and 1-20 wt% of ethylenic unsaturated alkyl ester to 0.5-10 parts by weight of seed latex containing 60-100 wt% of a styrene monomer, 0-40 wt% of butadiene, and 0-10 wt% of acrylic acid; and a step of adding 0.1-10 parts by weight of a reaction initiator and 0.01-10 parts by weight of bases. |
