PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an undercoating material for a refractory material that uses cement as a binding material and can enhance refractory performance of a composite layer of an undercoating material layer and a refractory mortar layer.SOLUTION: The undercoating material for a refractory material contains a resin binding material and an endothermic material and preferably contains a scaly inorganic particle. It is particularly preferable that the content of the endothermic material is 10-800 pts.mass and the content of the scaly inorganic particle is 10-400 pts.mass, each based on 100 pts.mass of the resin binding material.
