<p>Producing a front side galvanically coated control-, decoration- or display elements with uncoated regions, comprises (a) fabricating a main body with a front side and a rear side, (b) covering or shielding a region of the rear side for preventing a galvanic coating in the region, (c) applying a mask on the front side parallel to the above mentioned region, (d) holding, contacting the main body at the surface of the galvanizable material and masking, and (e) chemically and optionally carrying out galvanic pretreatment of the main body. Producing a front side galvanically coated control-, decoration- or display elements with uncoated regions, comprises (a) fabricating a main body made of a transparent, translucent or colored galvanizable plastic material with a front face and a rear side, (b) covering or shielding a region of the rear side for preventing a galvanic coating in the region, (c) applying a mask on the front side parallel to the above mentioned region, (d) holding, contacting the main body at the surface of the galvanizable material and masking, and (e) chemically and optionally carrying out galvanic pretreatment of the main body by a known method (colloidal or ionic process, or by direct metallization) for producing a thin-film metal layer outside the region and galvanically finishing the metallic surface coating. The contacting is carried out outside the region, and masking is carried out by a plastic layer, which is applied by means of a processor-controlled melting device.</p> |
