PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an ultra-light-weight coated paper having a low per-square-meter basis weight and high opacity and glossiness and entailing low cost; and the ultra-light-weight coated paper.SOLUTION: An ultra-light-weight coated paper having a brightness of 65-75%, an opacity of 85-95%, and a basis weight of 40-60 g/mis obtained by processing, into a paper, a paper stock prepared to have a mechanical pulp content of 10-50 mass% following the mixing of: at least 20 mass% of a deinked used paper pulp including 7-20 mass% of mechanical pulp and having an adjusted brightness of 65-75%; kraft pulp; and mechanical pulp, by coating the paper with a coating material including a pigment and an adhesive as main components, and by subjecting the coated paper to a soft calender surface smoothing treatment so as to realize a blank paper glossiness of 25-35%. |
