PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently achieve communication between devices connected by using interface of HDMI.SOLUTION: A signal transmission section transmits a video signal to an external device via an HDM cable with a differential signal. A communication section achieves communication with the external device with the differential signal via a two-way communication path consisting of a reserve line and an HPD line, which are included in the HDMI cable. A detecting section detects a connection state of the external device with DC bias potential of the HPD line. A communication section includes a transmission circuit and a reception circuit, and subtracts a transmission signal inputted to the transmission circuit from an output signal of the reception circuit to obtain a reception signal.
