PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve further reductions in emissions of oxides of nitrogen from a diesel automobile.SOLUTION: The invention provides a diesel fuel comprising a blend consisting of (a) a diesel fuel derived from a Fischer-Tropsch process and (b) a mineral oil based diesel fuel having a sulfur content of less than 100 ppmw, wherein the weight fraction of component (a) in the blend is between 0.2 and 0.5. This invention also provides a method of operating a diesel engine, the method comprising combusting such diesel fuel in the diesel engine.
