The filter element has a media path made of a flat filter medium (14), which is shaped into a circumferentially closed hollow body, which is flowed through from inside to outside or from outside to inside for the filtration of the fluid. The two end sections (18,20) of the media path are connected with each other in a sealed manner. The two end sections are welded with each other along two welding lines. The filter medium comprises cellulosic material, glass fiber blended fabric, polyester fibers containing material, non-woven material or laminated papers. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a filter element; and (2) a device for manufacturing a filter element.
