The method involves mechanically connecting the rack (12) of the testing device (2) with a sub-frame (10) of the motor vehicle. The support frame (11) and rack are supported at the bottom portion (17). A drive train (3) is mechanically connected to the sub-frame. An adjusting device (25) of the testing device is provided for adjusting the support frame and/or the rack in order to simulate operation loads of the drive train. The rack and sub-frame are adjusted relative to each other using adjusting device. An independent claim is included for tester for testing drive component of drive train of motor vehicle.
