The water filter (1) comprises left and right filter elements (4,6) that are arranged within a common housing (2). The left filter element is associated with a pump port (8) for connecting a pump for starting a compressor, and the right filter element is associated with a compressor return port (12) for supplying water to be filtered from the compressor. A common compressor inlet port (24) is provided for connecting a cable to the bearing points of the compressor. A check valve (22) is arranged within the housing to prevent a passage of water in the left and right filter elements.
